When you need sump pump service
A pump that runs continuously, will not start or stop correctly, cycles rapidly, makes a new noise, or fails to lower a rising pit needs inspection. Age alone does not establish remaining life. The pump, float, power, check valve, pit, inflow, discharge, and any alarm or backup all need to be considered.
Confirm the actual water path
Water around a foundation can involve grading, gutters, drainage, groundwater, a plumbing leak, stormwater, or more than one source. A sump system must be designed for the observed inflow and an approved discharge location; it cannot be represented as a guarantee against flooding or every moisture problem.
How we diagnose and fix it
We inspect the float switch, pump, power, check valve, pit, impeller access, alarm or backup, and discharge path as applicable. Testing under safe operating conditions helps separate a control, obstruction, installation, capacity, power, or equipment problem before repair or replacement is proposed.
Repair or replace?
A serviceable pump with an identified float, check-valve, power, or discharge problem may be repairable. Motor condition, capacity, parts, installation, controls, and the observed inflow can support replacement or redesign. We explain the evidence, limitations, and price rather than predicting a fixed remaining life or avoided flood cost.
Backup power for storm season
An outage stops a standard electric pump. Battery, generator, water-powered, redundant-pump, and alarm options each have capacity, runtime, water-supply, maintenance, and installation limits. We review what is compatible with the property and equipment; a backup reduces a specific failure risk but does not guarantee flood protection.
